Pittsburgh + 3.5 might be the best bet of the year. Its at 3 right now, and I dont always like to buy points, but this game shouls be very tight. Pittsburgh has the home field, and there D only gave up 3 points against the Jets, with 14 fluky points. I can see New England winning, but most likely by 3 or so.

WTF are fluky points?

Whenever I see my fellow posters trying to justify a bet that way an alarm goes off.

If you were so secure about that Pitt bet you would not have to make $hit up about fluky points.

Make sh&t up? Dont start being an internet tough guy and jumping down my throat. I went 2-0 today bigtime, and 3-0 this weekend, and I can tell that you prob had the Colts today just by the way you are talking. Im not trying to make stuff up, all im saying is that without the Punt return for a td, and a horrible pass INT for a TD, the game wasnt really that close. Pitt D gave up 3 points, is the point im trying to make. And i do think that PItt has a very good chance to win. I personally think the line should be a PK or -1 at the most. Pittsburgh getting 3, at home, and they beat them once already this year. I just think the line is off, and I will be jumping on it.
And hoghead, im not planning on winning by a half point, but if I only have to buy a half to make sure i dont lose by a fieldgoal, even better. Blue, maybe i will tease it, not a bad idea either.

All i know is im sick of people putting down people and their picks in here, and telling people they are stupid crazy or whatever. If you want to disagree and have a valid arguement, then fine. If not, then find something better to do.

fluky? The pitt Rookie QB makes a stupid mistake is not fluky, it is a possible sign of trouble. Rookie QBs are not known to be reliable in big games.

The punt return for a TD is also a possible sign of a team with special teams issues. The jets were talking all week about trying to expose the pitt special teams unit on punt coverage.

There is more to worry about, than fluky plays. And the jets were a very tired football team coming off back to back tough OT games.

I am not sold on this game yet, but please dont play the game because you think that pitt outplayed the jets. They simply did not.

give me a break, those plays were of course fluke, the pitts d is good, that is the point of his big bet and why not, beside those plays the d gave up 3 freaggin points, my point is this is a forum he can say what he feels is right and to my view it is reasonable, you guys are just idiots, any given sunday anything can happen, you guys are the dumass that took Minny cus they "outplayed" gb right haha go away idiots, man so dumb, the rookie made some mistake in his first real big game and you guys are jumping off the wagon, man you guys deserve to lose by playing based on how they played for one game.

NONE of the following three QB's are rookies Peyton Manning, Daunte Culpepper, and Marc Bulger....they all threw INT's in their playoff games this week ( 4 total between them ) and LOST their respective games.

Two plays kept the jets in the game to begin with and of course is the reason for the opening line in the AFC Championship game, the line should be a Pk'em in my opinion considering that the Steelers won the with game against New England at Heinz field....value clearly is with Pittsburgh getting points.

take care and good luck

i agree deb and hardcore. i make this game a pickem too according to my system. and the eagles are a strong play as im looking at the lines put out. the pitt/NE game has trap written all over it. ive come to realize the guys who set these lines make it thier business to know what the right side clearly is. after that its a mind game between them and us.they count heavily on public perception and also knowing they will get action from people who dont bet at all just cuz its now exciting to be able to show thier buddys they made a bet on the AFC/NFC playoffs. in the end its still a football game won by the better more experienced team.so whos better? whos been in this dance and knows the steps? who will repeat history? history is unkind to the steelers as we know. odonnell, stewart and nearly big ben ensured post season failures.ben is the x factor. hes still not the reason theyve won but he hasnt lost for them which is key.ill leave the rest to you who do this better than i. just had to put in my thoughts and im sure i'll get shredded but its all about sharing thoughts right?~rg

Today the NE D gave up only 3 points to a much better offense
than the Jets, albeit in difficult conditions {no "fluky" points}.
I'd say the NE offense is also better than the Jets offense.

In the previous NE-Pitt game won by Pitt Dillon did not play.

"The Patriots are a game away from their third Super Bowl trip in four seasons. Standing in the way, however, is the same Steelers team that halted New England's NFL-record 18-game winning streak -- 21 in a row including playoffs -- back in Week 8. This time around, however, the Patriots will have RB Corey Dillon. But New England isn't the only team looking for redemption. The Patriots and Steelers tangled in the 2001 AFC Championship Game at Heinz Field -- and New England got the better of its hosts"

One thing I have learned is that, ateam is never as bad as its last game and never as good as its last game I'm surprised to see the steelers a dog at home.

1 stat that sticks out like sore thumb is Belichick is 13-0 against a QB he has seen for the second time.

Also I'd like to see how teams perform after playing the Jets. The Pats lost their first game to the steelers after playing the Jets in 21 games this year.

Thank you for some people with a voice of reason. To be honest, I have been saying I would bet New England if they met again in the playoffs. I figured they would get a point or 2, or the line would be a pick,em. Really surprised. It is a very tough game to call, but I would gladly take those points. It already seems like field goal game to me. The Patriots offense didnt look that great against a weak Indi D, but then again, it seems the Patriots only do what they have to do to win. If they had to score 40, they prob would have

The two main differences between Pittsburgh and Indy is that the Steelers own the NFL's number one defense while the colts defense was ranked 28th in the league and Pittsburgh is a power run first team while the colts are a pass first happy team.

Meaningless stat in my opinion because other than facing the Manning led colts twice this year and twice last year and facing Tenny twice last year the other "Second time meetings" were against divisional opponents....also consider that both second meetings against the colts ( last year and this year ) and the rematch against Tenny in the playoffs last year all took place in the friendly confines of Gillette Stadium in Foxboro and not on the road.

IM not one to buy into stats. Being a Yankees fan, I know that all stats mean nothing at some point. The better team will prob win. Pittsburgh just seems to match up really well against the Pats, the have the best defense, and a very strong running game. Should be a very close game.

Please don't cry when Pitt loses big.

They LOVE to choke in the championship games at home!
